Continuing Renovations to the Lodge
During May 2017, several projects were brought to furtation. Our long awaited Central AC & Heatinbg was installed by Paul Schmidth, PM Mathis Lodge. Paul donated $500 towards the building fund to help cover the cost of insulating the attic. With this seed money and several other major donations and passing the hat in the Lodge, enough money was raised to purchase the insulation with money leftover to finish the remodeling of the kitchen and cupboard storeeoom.
Ken Anderson, Kason Anderson and Vince Muscarello worked on building a storeroom from Lodge Administrative Supplies in the music corner. The music corner was where the piano was located. The piano was sold and the area sat empty for many months. With the AC taking up the old storeroom, the Lodge needed a new space to house it supplies, and the open area was perfect for reutilization. It took these brothers half a day to repurpose the corner. At the same time Archie Domaschk, Dorman Pickering, Humberto "Beto" Contreras and Vince Muscarello installed installation by removing the ceiling tiles. Halfway through, Kason Anderson got up into the attic and the insulation was passed up to him. He accomplished in an hour what was done previously in half the time. This included two breaks to recover from the heat he endured while in the attic. Ken Anderson and Vince Muscarello spent the day converting an old bathroom into a kitchen cupboard and remodeling and organizing the kitchen area at the Lodge. Bathroom fixtures were removed from the non-functioning bathroom, and drains and piping were capped off. The room was throroughly disinfected and shelfing was installed. A stainless steel workbench was assembled and all cablinets were emptied and reorganized. Loose items were either stored or disposed of. The difference in the kitchen was remarkable. Great job by all those who participated and by those who donated to the building funding to finance these projects. |
